The first Steak-n Shake opened back in 1934. There, food was prepared at a grill out front, not hidden in back—“In sight, it must be right" meant you could be sure your food was made just the way you ordered it. And it’s the same today—your food is cooked to order and delivered on china right to your table by friendly servers. It’s not nostalgia that’s kept us doing things this way for over 70 years. It’s just that we’ve always believed it must be right.
